One of the sub-committees of the joint working group of the International Standardization Organization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), responsible for developing standards for Coding of audio, picture, multimedia and hypermedia information.

ITU-T Question 6/16 – Visual coding 

ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs.  The Study Groups of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) assemble experts from around the world to develop international standards known as ITU-T Recommendations. The goal of Question 6/16 is to produce Recommendations for visual signal coding methods appropriate for conversational and non-conversational audio/visual services.

JPEG is a More specifically, the JPEG committee is Working Group 1 (WG1), Coding of Still Pictures, of JTC 1’s subcommittee 29 (SC29), Coding of Audio, Picture, Multimedia and Hypermedia Information.

MPEG Point Cloud Compression  

Working group 7 of ISO/IEC JTC1-SC 29 has been developing a number of standards for compression of point clouds, which are in essence, sets of individual 3D points where each point has a three-dimensional position along with other properties such as color, surface normal, etc. 

The Moving Picture Experts Group

MPEG, the group that develops standards for coded representation of digital audio, video, 3D Graphics and genomic data. Since its establishment in 1988, the group has produced standards that help industry offer end users an ever more enjoyable digital media experience.

DASH Industry Forum
